Shelford Group trusts receive over £550m investment for world-leading research

The Biomedical Research Centres linked to the Shelford Group have today been awarded funding totalling over £550m from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to support health research.

The Biomedical Research Centres linked to the Shelford Group have today been awarded funding totalling over £550m from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to support health research.

The funds have been awarded by NIHR to 20 NHS and university partnerships across England for research projects including mental health, dementia and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The investment will begin from April 1st 2017, and will see the Biomedical Research Centres receive the largest ever investment into new health research.

Other projects of research within the Shelford Group’s Biomedical Research Centres that will see the increased funding levels include cancer, neuroscience, genomic medicine, respiratory medicine and surgical innovation.
