Nick Kirby - Shelford Group Managing Director
Nick joined the NHS as a graduate management trainee in 2004 following completion of a masters in political economy from the LSE. As a trainee Nick undertook placements in operational management, strategy and public health, graduating with distinction from the scheme. Since then Nick has worked in hospitals across London and the East Midlands.
Recent roles include Chief Operating Officer for R&D and the Biomedical Research Centre at Guy’s & St Thomas’ and Divisional Manager for Cancer Services at UCLH, providing significant exposure to the UK life sciences agenda and to health system working.
As Divisional Manager for Cancer at UCLH, Nick had a leading role in the centralisation of complex cancer across the region, a significant expansion in research activities and the formation of the National Cancer Vanguard in partnership with the Royal Marsden and Christie Hospitals. This included fulfilling the responsibilities of Programme Director for the UCLH Cancer Collaborative, leading improved patient outcomes across the region.
