The Safer Nursing Care Tools (SNCT) and the Mental Health Optimal Staffing Tool (MHOST) calculate clinical staffing requirements based on patients’ needs (acuity and dependency) which, together with professional judgement, guides chief nurses in their safe staffing decisions.
Following feedback from NHS users, we have been looking at ways to make the SNCT easier to apply in every day practice.
As a first step we have now launched a digital decision-making matrix for Adult Inpatient Wards in Acute Hospitals and Adult Acute Assessment Units, which is available for license holders on the Imperial College website.
The digital matrix can be used across desktop and mobile devices and is intended to support use of the decision-making matrix in every day clinical settings.
License holders can request a password to access the digital matrix by contacting nhsinfo@imperial.ac.uk.
