Licences for the Shelford Group Safer Nursing Care Tools (SNCT) and Mental Health Optimal Staffing tool (MHOST) are now available via InnovaHealthTec – https://www.innovahealthtec.com/. InnovaHealthTec is hosted by Imperial College London and provides licences for innovative healthcare solutions, including the SNCT and MHOST. This service was previously provided via QuickTech.
The SNCT and MHOST are innovative and evidence based decision support tools for setting clinical staffing establishments. They have been developed by the Shelford Group chief nurses’ sub group and licences are free to NHS trusts in England. The tools calculate clinical staffing requirements based on patients’ needs (acuity and dependency) which, together with professional judgement, guides chief nurses in their safe staffing decisions.
Available tools include:
- Adult Inpatient Wards in Acute Hospitals (endorsed by NICE)
- Adult Acute Assessment Units
- Children & Young People’s Inpatient Wards in Acute Hospitals
- Mental Health Inpatient Wards (multi-speciality inpatient care).
