Our annual event, held on 1 November at the Royal College of Physicians in London, was attended by around 80 delegates including both Shelford colleagues and external stakeholders. We have received enormously positive informal feedback on the event, so a huge thanks to everyone who attended.
The morning session, attended by Shelford colleagues only, focused on future plans for the Shelford Group and also featured some case study sub-group updates. Conversations were extremely productive and we are now analysing the feedback, with a view to looking at how we can support more collaborative working across the sub-groups.
Health Foundation CEO Jennifer Dixon gave a fascinating presentation on the current “poly-crisis” in the NHS, together with recommendations for Trusts and national policy makers on addressing the current tough economic conditions in the NHS. We also had two discussion panels: the first featured fantastic case studies from members on care transformation ranging from digital innovations and population health, to theatre productivity and the role of industry, and the second featured speakers from NICE, DHSC, Cambridge University and University College London all focused on potential areas for future collaboration covering areas as diverse as neurology, obesity, and commercial trials and research.
The event finished with an energetic presentation from Mark Britnell, Vice President of KPMG UK, who drew on examples of global integrated care to help demonstrate how the NHS can meet some of its current challenges, followed by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust Chief Executive Roland Sinker, who explained how we will be using all feedback and ideas to shape future of the group.
You can see a social media round-up of the event on Twitter at #Shelford2022, on our thread here, and also a detailed live tweeted afternoon thread from NHS Confed Policy Director Layla McCay.
