The Shelford Group has today welcomed the publication of the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan.
Shelford Group Chair, Professor Clive Kay, Chief Executive, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“We welcome the vision set out today of an NHS focused on prevention, community-based care, and digital access. We are excited to play our part in helping to turn this vision into real and rapid improvements for patients.”
Shelford Group Managing Director David Furness added:
“We welcome today’s publication of the Ten Year Health Plan, and we share the government’s ambitions to improve health and keep people well for longer, while ensuring universal access to high quality care. We are ambitious for what can be achieved, inspired by this clear vision, and we look forward to continuing to work with partners to bring about the three shifts: hospital to home, analogue to digital and treatment to prevention.
As some of the country’s largest teaching and research Trusts, we are pleased to see innovation at the heart of the plan and a key enabler to rapid service improvement. We are already working to spread best practice and innovation within the Shelford Group and beyond that to the wider NHS – whether by using AI to improve delivery of elective care, training the next generation of surgeons to use surgical robots, or developing safer staffing tools that support patient safety and increase efficiency. We know that by working in partnership with others we can maximise the positive contribution we all make to improving health and care.”
